Steven Dostie
Steven Dostie has been involved in breeding, showing and training dogs for over 37 years. In the early eighty’s Steven concentrated on breeding Rottweilers and produced a number of champions and top obedience dogs in that breed. But since 1985 he has been passionately involved with the Portuguese Water Dog. Under the DownEast prefix, he and his wife have bred well over 50 titled Portuguese Water Dogs in water, obedience, agility, conformation and search & rescue.

Beverly Dees Rafferty
After receiving a copy of an article from a friend about Portuguese Water Dogs in the mide-1980’s, Beverly Rafferty made a trip from California to New Canaan, CT to spend an afternoon with Deyanne Miller and her wonderful PWD, Charlie Brown (CH Charlie de Alvalade). Bev was interested in the breed due to her dog allergies, she was smitten due to Charlie. In 1985 she got her first PWD, and shortly thereafter became active in the breed through service on the PWDCA Board, and as an exhibitor and pet owner.
A breeder of Portuguese Water Dogs since 1989, dogs of her breeding have won the PWDCA National Specialty three years, and grandchildren have won an additional five times. She has exhibited in Portugal, one dog becoming the first American-bred Portuguese Champion and winning the Portuguese National Specialty. Pinehaven Kennels has produced over 50 breed champions, as well as many Water, Obedience, Agility, Tracking and Therapy dogs, and beloved family members.
Ms. Rafferty was also Editor and Publisher of Seafarer Magazine, A Celebration of the Portuguese Water Dog from 1992-1997.

Roland Belanger
Surry B.C.
I began in the dog world in 1972 with a GERMAN SHEPHERD I purchased for $25.
We trained for our first trial and found out that I could not show a non registered dog in a CKC Trial. So I bought another one, but this time he was registered. Our first time out and we were awarded the Dog World Award trophy (a novice score for the first 3 trials in a row of 195/198/197). Enthusiastically, I soon joined the Lakeshore Obedience training club and later became the Treasurer (over 150 members) for many years. I have also held the position of CKC Obedience Representative for Quebec.
In 1994, I moved to British Columbia with my American Cocker Spaniel. I joined the B.C. Cocker Spaniel club and held the position of Treasurer for 3 years. Since this time I have trained two dogs to the TDX level and well as one Spaniel to Utility. I have held the position of CKC Obedience Council representative for Zone 11 for 1 year.
In 1996, I obtained my Obedience Judging Licence for all levels, plus CGN and all levels of Rally-O. I am a very supportive of Rally obedience and am a member of RALLY O, as well as Dumbbell Obedience Dog Club. I am currently training 'Tyler", a puppy, who will be entering the ring shortly.
I enjoy judging all teams and wish for all the exhibitors a perfect 200!!
